First Saturday: The West Coast Swing Night to Be in Pensacola
There’s Monday night dancing—and then there’s First Saturday.
Once a month, Ragon Hall fills up with West Coast Swing dancers for an entire evening of learning, social dancing, great music, and the kind of energy you only get when a big group of people comes together ready to dance.
Whether you’ve been dancing for years or you’re wondering what West Coast Swing even is, First Saturday is a night you can be part of.
Start With a Lesson. Stay for the Dance.
The evening begins with workshops from 6:00–7:00 PM and 7:00–8:00 PM, giving dancers a chance to learn, challenge themselves, and add something new before the social starts.

We’ve got you covered too.
Our Beginner Track runs from 6:00–8:00 PM and is included with your social dance admission, giving new dancers two hours to get comfortable with the basics before everyone comes together on the dance floor.
Then at 8:00 PM, the social begins.
And that’s when the room really comes alive.
This Is Social Dancing
West Coast Swing isn’t about memorizing a routine with one person.
It’s about connection.
You don’t need to bring a partner. Dancers ask different people throughout the night, and beginners dance right alongside people who have been doing this for years.
That mix is part of what makes the night special.
People laugh. People mess up. People try again. People meet someone new. And before long, the person who walked in wondering whether they would fit in is out on the floor dancing.
That’s the environment we work hard to create at Pensacola Swing Dance Society.

From 8:00–11:30 PM, DJ Taylor Morton keeps the music going while the floor stays busy with dancers from across our local community and beyond.
Some people come for the workshops.
Some come almost entirely for the social.
Some show up because a friend finally convinced them to try West Coast Swing.
But the thing we hear again and again is that people keep coming back because of the people they meet here.
That’s what First Saturday has become.
Not just another dance.
It’s one of the nights our community looks forward to every month.
